Surprise Proposal at Sunset Cliffs, San Diego, CA - Sarah & Norman
Of all the photoshoots I’ve done this year, this is one has got to be the most unforgettable.
I first met Norman through a Facebook group that we both were a part of. He was looking for a photographer to capture one of the most important moments of his and his partners life: the proposal. Proposals are somewhat a big deal, a huge milestone in a couples relationship don’t you think? So when I read what he was looking for I immediately offered my services. Our excitement combined were all I needed to be completely immersed in creating a beautiful experience.
San Diego has the most mild weather year round and has some of the most gorgeous scenery in such a small geographic area. We have beaches, coastal cliffs, Mount Laguna on our eastern border, and beautiful historic landmarks. So naturally, its the perfect location for a surprise proposal! Right? Well, so we thought.
If anyone lives in the San Diego area, they’ll remember that we had tropical storm warnings on the week of September 9, 2022. Yes, that means hurricane rated wind speeds and heavy rain. Hurricane Kay had the biggest impact to our southern border, Mexico, with San Diego taking some friendly fire. Like a mad person, I was monitoring the weather every minute to make sure this didn’t affect us in any way (literally up to the hour of the proposal). I think we were the luckiest people alive that day because: 1. it had stopped raining and 2. it wasn’t incredibly windy.
Let me tell you all though, the proposal went perfect and she said, “YES”! I have never been more happy for the two of them and it was such an incredible honor to capture that moment. So to Sarah and Norman, congratulations to you both once again. They were both incredibly genuine people and it was such a blast getting to spend some time with them.
Check out some of my favorite shots from that day.
