San Diego, CA Vintage Car Engagement Shoot - A & E

When my couples come to me and tell me they want to do something unique and out of the box for their engagement shoots I excitedly oblige. When my couples tell me to jump, I say “how high”. These types of shoots get me the most excited because collaborating with my couples and bringing their vision to life truly fulfills me. Creating photos for me isn’t just a point and click process. It involves careful planning and allows me to pick my brain and take inspiration from even the most mundane sources.

The original plan for this shoot wasn’t an engagement shoot but a proposal at Sunset Cliffs. E had reached out to me months prior to carefully plan it all out and have it perfectly executed. Instead, E ended up proposing to A on their trip to Japan in December and our proposal shoot turned into an engagement shoot!

With A now a part of our email threads, we continued to collaborate by sharing ideas back and forth (figuring out a location and setting up our date and time) and A shared her interest in doing a vintage car photoshoot after finding inspiration in photos she found on Instagram.

The search for the perfect vintage car didn’t take too long. Trevor from @sdvintagerides had a 1957 Porche Speedster that was perfect for what A envisioned. On the day of our shoot, Trevor arrived on time and handled himself very professionally, taking the time to explain the do’s and don’ts when posing with the Porche (I always want to make sure that we’re respectful of other people’s property!). I would highly recommend hiring Trevor for any car rentals that fit your shoots vision! You can find him on Vinty or on Instagram.

With the Porche booked for the morning, we were all set for our session on that February morning. On the morning of the shoot, I arrived at the park while the sky was still painted in shades of indigo and lavender. The air was crisp and filled with the sound of crashing waves and the distant cries of seabirds. As I set up my equipment and waited for A and E to arrive, Trevor also pulled up simultaneously. When A and E finally arrived, we all greeted one another with warm smiles and hugs, their excitement palpable in the air. With the wind chill ever present in the morning air I made sure that A and E stayed warm with the heated blanket and hand/body warmers I carry with me for my couples during San Diego sunrise engagement shoots.

With the sun inching ever closer to the horizon, we wasted no time in getting started with the shoot. A and E moved from one prompt and pose to another. Against the backdrop of the rugged coastline and the vintage Porsche Speedster, they looked like something out of a dream, I’d never thought I would be able to capture a love like this. As the sun finally broke free from the horizon, bathing everything in its warm, golden glow, we headed towards the cliffs to do even more exploring since E had never been to this location before.

And as the morning drew to a close, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for being able to witness and capture A and E's love story. So here's to A and E, to love at dawn and all the beauty that comes with it. May your journey together be filled with endless sunrises, laughter, and moments that take your breath away. And may the vintage Porsche Speedster always remind you of the day when your love story truly began.
